week 29 update

Well back from holidays and the boys have done a great job keeping the course tidy. I took my holidays hoping that the cold weather would mostly be gone by the time i got back ... but no such luck this morning was down to 6.
we have wetta soiled the greens today as the dry patch was starting up, this is always a problem in winter as the greens surface is constructed on sand but the surrounds are not thus to give the greens the water they need the surrounds get really boggy and have lots of water laying around so we cut the amount of water to the greens and over time they get dry that eventually leeds to them getting dry patch , so with the wetting agent applied to the soil of the green this will let the water hang around the root system of the turf for a bit longer we usually get about three weeks out of this product. it is also a hassle to put out as it has to be washed in straight away thus we need a clear day with few golfers to put it out.
Today we also have the rating team out doing the course measurements and ratings so it will be interesting to see the results after they have done all there calculations a special thanks goes out to marg and julie from the board who have given up there day to help out in the rating process thanks guys well till next time keep swinging pete
